at the time i'm writing this its only more or less 3 months away from the wedding. which means, its high time we order the wedding invites. aaaa!! i love those hardcovers cards made in indon but mostly are out of my range of moolah, they range about rm2-6. I'm printing about 1000 pcs (including honeh's and mine) so that would amount to 2 grand minimum. Gila! BUT somehow i managed to find this indonesian private card maker/GD who takes orders from internet and makes them at crazy cheap price. 90sen je duit malaysia!! thats without the envelope la and just plastic cover, tapi kalau ada envelope which is as good as kad itself is RM1.10.

aaaaaa....aku tergoda!!!!

i know honeh being the prudent money spender, the better half of me at that, is kinda reluctant to spend that kind of money on the invites. but...honeh....kad tu cantekkk...i know i know i know i'm kinda getting side-tracked but...arr...ermm...hmmmmmmmMMM

annNNYYway, until we've decided on the card, i've already got started on the design and wordings. design-wise i think me and honeh is very much in accordance, i'm thankful that he went along with my choice of colors and have minimal comment on the monogram. We found the perfect prayer quote :), wordings kira ok la, and right now cuma nak tunggu which dewan that my honeh finally get for the bertandang ceremony to be put in the address part.

I love the idea of incorporating traditional pantun/gurindam in the card. kira 1st page is the monogram, then page 2 & 3 bila bukak tu ada doa and our names, page 4-5 are the details sebelah pompuan and laki, page 6 peta to both sides, and page 7 is the traditional pantun. i'm trying to find a nice romantic but classy 4-8 kerat pantun/gurindam to be put in the wedding invites. I've found some nice gurindams that's really beautiful but its too long and if i were to edit it, it wont do justice to the writer and sabotage the beauty of the gurindam.

also, a lot of the 8 kerat pantuns are kinda sad. Beautiful, love-themed, but in forlorn kind of way. I remember being the pantun/puisi/syair/sajak contributor and participant for my school team and majalah since form 2 but somehow i've lost that touch to make my own. aaaa!!! help!!! pliz!! sesapa yang ada idea plz email/gtalk aku kat zazaX8@gmail.com . Lagi klasik lagi bagus. It also has to be pendek, sebab kad aku jenis kurus panjang. Also more than welcomed is pantun/gurindam Minang.

Pantun Sireh Pinang ~ Ahmad Sarju

Seiring madah pantun bersambut
dalam senyum penghidang tamu
mesra berdakap kasih terpaut
persilakan tamu sambut di pintu

Sambut salam sambut bersopan
jenguk-menjenguk ajuk-mengajuk
baru kami menyebut tuan
air didih belumlah sejuk

Dimulakan hajat setinggi gunung
dimulakan dengan pantun pusaka
sehalus rambut sejernih kaca
tersisip makna dalam nan agung

Dijunjung datang disambut hajat
dulang berukir tepak peminangan
persudikan santap sirih beradat
pusaka bangsa zaman berzaman

Kini jejaka rindu seharian
gadis di bilik sendiri kesepian

Menunggu menimang ingatan kasih
malam merayu ke bulan jernih

Ah! Semusim cuma yang dinanti
gunung dikejar kemanakan lari?

nice kan? but the invite will be a slim rectangle so confirm la the gurindam wont fit. hmmph...how la nak edit, got copyright meh?

House-wis,e we decided not to do major renovation yet lah, we'll go commando, sort-of. Initially we wanted to get rid of the small yard at the back and break the wall down to elongate the kitchen area but that alone would amount to 10K++, belum lagi masuk grilles, alarms, gate, paint, ceiling works, floor works and furnitures. Kitchen cabinet lagi. Also we wanted to have laminate flooring but to do that we need to do the plaster ceiling and paint and wardrobe baru la ok nak buat laminate flooring. Doing everything in one go including financing the wedding ourselves would definitely not just dent our banks. More so when the recession finally looms upon us we'd need the cash in hand. Most probably renovation costs would be much lower masa recession so we'll see how and just concentrate on the safety measures and the basics dulu la. Takpe la buat sikit2. Next year i would want my honeh to balik and see me often osso. Honeh came back as a surprise for my bday, ngeehehehe. Me likes!

So i finally went to Bandung. At last!! It was more of a guerilla-ish trip, coz i hardly had time to relax or even sit! My brother's reception went as smoothly as we could've imagined, and pagi2 esoknya i flew from lcct around 9am camtu. sampai2 je terus letak barang kat Hotel Arwiga (nice, clean, and pretty boutique hotel...super cheap too!) and met up with rok and went to see this so-called famous tailor in Bandung, Anita, whose kebayas are beautiful but too avant-garde for me, or for rok. Thennnnnnn....my pen-pal-ish tailor, Ermando, came to the hotel and we immediately hit it off, creative-wise, and he brought with him his most wonderful, wonderful creations, and voila, selamat kebaya2 aku semua dia buat. Siap dgn rokmah2 sekali tempah kat dia. Thankssss so much la kat ermando. He had the kindest heart to accompany me to the kedai kain and having him with me made me feel like super-vip la, siap kedai makan tu bagi lunch sekali, teh botol berbotol2. haih. pics with rokmah. will upload once she comes back from rome.

Bandung was great. I need to go there again. Did you hear what i said? i NEED to go there again. not WANT, but NEED. hahahaha. Next time would be on a purely leisure purpose.

ok need to log off and see our house again. jmpa contrator buat grille. toodles!
